May 2008 saw top leaders from around the World come together for the Business Leaders Conference held at the new Wembley Stadium, England. This premier event covered key topics that organisations are addressing in an attempt to sustain and grow their competitve advantage. One of Australias top specialists in Business Intelligence and Information management, Paul Ormode-James, attended the conference with thousands of other business leaders from across the globe.
Ormonde-James commented on the professional presentation of the conference and the selection of the venue. In terms of content he stated that presentations by leading economists on the current economic climate was of value to all delegates. The discussion addressed the impacts in the US and the potential for that to flow acoss other countries. The varying views clearly showed there were no simple answers and only time will show the extend of the potential global crisis.
In terms of Business Intelligence Ormonde-James stated “I was most impressed by the case studies fro m around the World showing some of the latest implementations of solutions in major organisations. This was similar to the state of the art implementation have completed for MBF Australia. Deploying a new data warehouse structure, meta data management, information management, information portal, advanced analytics and CRM/campaign management system”. Many delegates were very interested in understanding how Ormonde-James delivered such a complex system in a short time on a limited budget. Specifically the discussions on cultural change and engaging executive support gained the most questioning.
